Since Christmas is the holiday I celebrate in the coming week and toys are filling my head and attic, I thought it appropriate to focus this article on the importance of play in a child’s life. In our household, we’ve decorated the Christmas tree with ornaments that remind us of vacations, happy times, Christmases and relatives. My husband and I, in addition to wrapping up work, are busy getting gifts, baking cookies, writing cards and hosting gatherings for all of those friends, teachers and colleagues who have played a meaningful role in our lives this year.     I enjoy your columns! And since I write one every other week for our school district, I notice that we parallel each other on themes sometimes. That’s a good sign!

    My pieces are much shorter than yours since they go in a districtwide e-newsletter with other items.

    I wrote about The Gift of Play a couple of weeks ago for our mailing that went out as school wrapped up for Christmas break. I had some different links that might be good ones for you another time, so will attach it.

      That’s terrific! No surprise that we are writing about the same things since seasons seem to call for common topics and themes.
